Ministry at Ablaze: Youth Minister

Ministry Background: Every summer from 2006-2017, I served at a diocesan service camp called Camp Fort Worth.  I got to serve as well as lead teens in service of the community around the diocese including serving at homeless shelters, nursing homes, boys and girls clubs and building baby beds from scratch in order to donate them to pregnancy centers around the diocese.  From 2011-2013, I served with NET Ministries (National Evangelization Teams) traveling around the United States leading retreats for Middle School and High School students.  I served on the full time missionary staff at the Pines Catholic Camp in Big Sandy, TX.  In the summer of 2017, I served with Totus Tuus in the Diocese of Tyler, TX. In the summer of 2019, I served on the summer staff at Camp Covecrest in Tiger, Georgia. All Glory to God!

Passions and interests: I love meeting new people, having jam sessions, reading-especially books about Saints, playing sports-especially ultimate frisbee, and chillin!

How did you become involved with Ablaze/why are you involved? I first heard of Ablaze around the time it started in 2011.  My friend Alyssa Trutter was one of the founders.  I loosely knew what it was, but I didn’t know much.  As the years went on, more and more people that I knew started to work for Ablaze to some capacity.  As I got closer to graduating college, Alyssa reached out to me asking if I had any plans for after graduation and she invited me to think and pray about applying to Ablaze.  I took the discernment seriously and the Lord gave me clarity and made it very clear He was calling me to this ministry.  I wanted to get involved with this ministry for a number of reasons, one of which was the beauty of inviting others into the ministry through monetary donation.  I’ve seen how powerful it is when asking someone to donate to their mission and the conversion that comes soon after to the donator.  The relationship established with each donator is incredible as well.   Also, it is quiteevident how close the Ablaze community is and I wanted to be a part of that!
