- Senior Philosophy and Theology double major at Franciscan University of Steubenville
Ministry Background: I was involved in ministry somewhat in highschool, but it was more something to do than something I was driven to do. Freshman year of college, Totus Tuus came to my university to invite students to serve with them during the summer. I was actually disappointed to feel a tug to apply, but that summer I spent missionary teaching for Totus Tuus was honestly the best and most formative experience of my life. It made me more convicted I wanted to study theology, so I transferred to Franciscan where I’ve been involved in Music ministry and the Abortion Clinic Sidewalk Counseling Ministry.
Passions and interests: I love anything that makes me think about meaning, depth, and beauty: books, music (I love playing instruments!), good theological or philosophical conversations, the great outdoors, laughter, and even those exciting, mind-boggling homework readings.
How did you become involved with Ablaze/why are you involved? I had planned on graduating this Fall ’20 from Franciscan, but God put a little hiccup in my plans and I pushed back graduation. So I sat down to find a job in Texas, but I didn’t want just a “money maker” job. I wanted to do something that I would love doing, something I could make a difference by doing. So I searched “Catholic jobs in Texas” and discovered Ablaze. The more I got to know the organization, the more sure I was that I wanted to be involved. Ministry to youth is so very important. I can still remember the defining moments in my own youth ministry experience and can track how they’ve affected my life, and Ablaze takes this ministry seriously, creating a team and growth-centered atmosphere to continually make that ministering better and stronger.
