Ministry at Ablaze: Director of Youth Ministry for St. Joseph in Bryan, TX

Ministry Background: I began working in youth ministry over a decade ago in Youth Prisons, and multiple parishes. My first full-time position was at St. Edward’s Parish in Spring, TX. I have worked at other Parishes in various roles from Small Group Leader, Catechist, Speaker, Mentor, etc. Parishes include St. Simon and Jude, St. Ignatius of Loyola, etc.

I am a Lay Dominican, and my Brothers and Sisters have nicknamed me the Sheepdog for my youth work. I love to go out and round up the lost sheep, through CPS as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, mentoring through Angel Reach, or Prison Ministry.

Passions and interests: I am a nerd, I love to read and study the faith! I participate in Crossfit, and I enjoy walking. Meeting new people and spreading the light of Christ is a favorite past time, especially over a pint of beer!

How did you become involved with Ablaze/why are you involved? I wanted to go further in youth ministry and begin a Revolution where the Young Church can grow in a relationship with Christ. Ablaze has a great program to make disciples and help teens reach their goals and form a relationship with Jesus, I wanted to be a part of a great team.

Favorite quote/Bible verse:

I came to cast fire upon the part; how I wish it was already kindled!

                    Luke 12:49 RSV

A man who governs his passions is master of the world. We must either command them or be enslaved to them. It is better to be the hammer than the anvil.
