Education: I graduated from Texas A&M University in May of 2021 with a B.S. in University Studies with an area of concentration in Child Professional Services with minors in Sociology and Creative Studies.
Ministry Background: After my confirmation in 2016, I returned to my high school youth program as an assistant youth catechist. During this time, I had the privilege of leading small groups, being an emcee, leading praise and worship, and staffing retreats. I didn’t quite understand why I was doing all of this until I attended Brave the Wilderness, a summer camp for my deanery, after my senior year of high school. There, I encountered the Lord’s love and mercy in a totally different way. It was there that I learned everything I do is to praise and glorify the Lord. Coming into Texas A&M University, understanding this truth, I sought to serve within ministry in this beautiful way and began with music ministry at St. Mary’s Catholic Center. Shortly after, I became a volunteer with Ablaze and quickly joined the Ablaze team as a missionary intern for 2 years (May 2019 to May 2021) and finally, I joined the team as a full-time missionary (June 2021)!
Passions and Interests: I love to sing and play guitar, piano, drums, really anything I can get my hands on! Impromptu jam sessions with my friends are always such a joy. I enjoy spending time outdoors, taking walks, running, hiking, sitting, reading, napping, or really doing anything outdoors. I love to play almost every sport that involves running around, especially Ultimate Frisbee. What I love most about all of these things is that I get to appreciate the gift of beauty that God has given to us so abundantly in endless unique ways.
How did you become involved with Ablaze/why are you involved? Entering college, I was still very interested in being involved in youth ministry in some way, so I looked around and I found Ablaze. Jalyn Gonzales, the Middle School Youth Minister at St. Mary’s in Brenham at the time, invited me out to help with praise and worship at a few of their youth nights and from there I began my journey with Ablaze. A few months later, I received an unexpected invitation from a friend to come to St. Joseph’s and help out as a small group leader during youth night. I quickly realized that something significant was present within the youth…Each of them had an uncorrupted and pure love that emanated from their hearts. I knew that this love was something extraordinary and that it was (and is!) something that must be cherished and encouraged in the young people! The love that our young people have for Christ and His church is so beautiful that it can’t help but to draw people closer to Love Himself. Because of this encounter, I have been a part of the Ablaze team since!
